Presidential Post - Outdated !!

At these times of recession and tightening of the economy, do we need the post of President in this current form of Parliamentary Democracy ? Look at the current president. Presently Mrs. Patil is touring Mysore and that is all she has been doing in the recent past it seems. Travel. Recently she was in Poland and before that I believe in Africa. Why do we have to spend in crores for these luxurious trips for her and the entourage ? The money that could be well spent on say to invest in a power project in rural India instead of being spent on these power trips for these power hungry politicians ? Whose money is it anyway ? The gullible tax-payer unfortunately who is well remembered during election years.
Also most important question is that is there anything being achieved by these excursions? I am sure nothing. Seems like being the President of India is like earning a good retirement package for a senior (age wise!) politicians where all the perks are great !
It is time a type of movement is started to get rid of these kind of posts that are more symbolic and that is costing the people a lot to maintain. The same money that could be otherwise utilized for developmental projects.
Of course we had a great APJ Abdul Kalam who shone momentarily during his tenure. His wonderful practical ideas though remained mostly on paper. Implementation is of course a different story. Dr. Kalam would have made a far superior Prime Minister !
An alternate to the Presidential post will be available once this symbolic post is gotten rid off. It is not etched in stone that a more of a rubber-stamp authority should exist in a Parliamentary type of democracy.
Currently as I see it this position is more of a liability than an asset and of course a huge burden on the tax payer & the exchequer.

Recently I have come across a spate of articles regarding monies stacked in Swiss banks by unscrupulous elements consisting of politicians, bureaucrats & businessmen & that runs into billions of Dollars. This money has been looted & siphoned off by these ANTI-NATIONAL elements since the break of dawn on 15/08/47. The money lying in the vaults of Swiss banks belong to the PEOPLE of India and not these individuals. The individuals who have run the country & are still incharge of our institutions are the culprits & bandits who have this money stacked up at these banks, the money I again insist, belongs to the AAM INDIAN. So who are we going to elect this time ? You see most of those seeking your votes are the same people who have looted you for the past many years. Of course Politicians & Bureaucrats have gone hand-in-hand over the past many years participating jointly in this loot. So are we left with no choice but elect the same elements who are cause of so much misery ? We have to SELECT & ELECT this time. Select the candidate who has a clean record, who vouches to be clean from corrupt practices who vouches to do his duty to the nation and who vouches to bring back the deposits from Swiss banks to india and then punish those guilty who looted thousands of crores of Rupees that rightfully belong to India !
Fortunately there are some cadidates who might be the right fit, be it from major parties or independants. One has to study their backgrounds to watch their fitness during these all important elections.
I have below some statistics which I have borrowed that may shock the reader out of his/her wits. Shocking because of the sheer numbers involved in this scam. Scam yes it is because the gullible Indian has been taken for a massive ride by these unscupulous elements who without any hint of shame are still standing in front of the AAM JANATA begging for the mighty votes. The same individuals & their cohorts should be made to beg for mercy for the sins they have committed by the electorate. The future of the country is at stake. It is time for the people who are aware to create an awareness for the people who are unaware of the facts. Hear are some of the stats I have borrowed-:
Recently, due to international pressure, the Swiss government agreed to disclose the names of the account holders only if the respective governments formally asked for it. Indian government is not asking for the details...... .no marks for guessing why?WeIs India poor, who says? Ask the Swiss banks. With personal account deposit bank of $1,500 billion in foreign reserve which have been misappropriated an amount 13 times larger than the country's foreign debt.!
1. This amount is about 13 times larger than the country's foreign debt.2. With this amount 45 crore poor people can get Rs 1,00,000 each.
Black money in Swiss banks -- Swiss Banking Association report, 2006 details bank deposits in the territory of Switzerland by nationals of following countries: TOP FIVE 1. INDIA $1,456 BILLION
2. RUSSIA $470 BILLION
3. U.K. $390 BILLION
4. UKRAINE $100 BILLION
5. CHINA $96 BILLION ( No wonder China beats us Economically – Their Politicians work for their country – our politicians work for themselves)
In fact, some finance experts and economists believe tax havens to be a conspiracy of the western world against the poor countries. By allowing the proliferation of tax havens in the twentieth century, the western world explicitly encourages the movement of scarce capital from the developing countries to the rich.
What is to be noted here is that most of the wealth of Indians parked in these tax havens is illegitimate money acquired through corrupt means. Naturally, the secrecy associated with the bank accounts in such places is central to the issue, not their low tax rates as the term 'tax havens' suggests.
So the time is NOW for the electorate to be made aware of the above facts before one casts his/her vote for the RIGHT candidate, the stress made is my opinion.
